Elena told Alaric in 3x06 “He misses you” when Alaric was mad at Damon(and rightfully so) and didn’t want to talk to him. How was Damon to know that he’d have to survive without Alaric in his life at all? If he missed him then in 3x06, how much will he miss him now?
